I made my sixth attempt to use the Palau digital residency ID in the week of September 18th, 2023.
I tried to use the ID to buy alcohol from a Walgreens store in Los Angeles, California.
Result: successful.
Explanation: I waltzed into a Walgreens store near me in Los Angeles and picked up a six pack of modelo especial beer (cans). I left all other government issued ID in my car so as to force the cashier to decide whether he would sell me the alcohol just based on my Palau ID. I made my way to the cashier who asked for my photo ID. I presented the Palau digital residency ID to him. He looked at it for a moment, gave it back to me as I completed my checkout.
This is the first attempted purchase of alcohol that I’ve made with the ID.
I’ll continue trying to use the ID, for other vital record requests, and other uses, and report the results here on Malakouti Law.
