By Parviz Malakouti-Fitzgerald, Esq.

I made my 27th attempt to use the Palau digital residency ID (“the ID”) in February, 2025.
I tried to use the Palau ID to confirm my identity for a UPS private mailbox in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Result: Unsuccessful
Explanation: I rent a mailbox from UPS. I was informed by UPS that the United States Postal Service (USPS) has obligated UPS to obtain two forms of ID from all UPS mailbox holders. This was presented to me as a recent change imposed on UPS by the USPS.
In response, I offered my Palau digital residency ID as one of the two forms of IDs. I gave the ID to the UPS employee who examined it, and stated that it would not be sufficient to fulfill one of the two forms of ID. I countered that it is a national residency ID card. The UPS employee replied that it still wouldn’t be sufficient.
This attempted use case of the Palau digital residency ID for confirming my identity for a UPS private mailbox in Las Vegas is therefore unsuccessful.
I’ll continue trying to use the ID, and report the results here on Malakouti Law.
